These celebrities who used a surrogate have been huge supporters of our industry, speaking out publicly about their experiences and explaining why they decided to go down this unconventional path to parenthood.

1. Paris Hilton and Carter Reum fulfill their family dreams.

“My life is finally complete 👶🏼💙” Paris Hilton posted on her Instagram. “It’s always been my dream to be a mother…” she told PEOPLE magazine. She later revealed why she chose a surrogate for the births of her two children.

Hilton stated her reason for choosing a Surrogate for their family journey was a very personal and private one, she recently shared in an interview with Romper “I just have so much PTSD from what I went through as a teenager,”…“If I’m in a doctor’s office, I get a shot, anything, I will literally have a panic attack and I can’t breathe,” she said. “I just knew that would not be healthy for me or the baby, growing inside of someone who has such high anxiety.” Due to past trauma Hilton felt it was safer to use a Surrogate to carry her and Reum’s children.

Paris and Husband, Carter, welcomed their first baby together, a boy, via surrogate. Confirmed on Jan. 24, 2023. More recently the couple announced that they were welcoming a 2nd baby, this time a girl again through a surrogate. “Thankful for my baby girl🥹🩷👶🏼” Paris posted on Nov. 23, 2023.

Over the holiday 2023-2024 season, Hilton shared a photo of the family of four, “At the beginning of 2023, I could never have imagined the happiness and gratitude I would feel in this moment ❤️ My beautiful family of four, my fairytale dream come true! ✨🥹” she wrote.

2. Chrissy Teigen & John Legend are now a family of 6!

Teigen & Legend Welcomed their son & baby number four on June 19, 2023. Sharing a moving tribute and namesake to their surrogate on Instagram posted June 28, “We want to say thank you for this incredible gift you have given us, Alexandra”…”And we are so happy to tell the world he is here, with a name forever connected to you, Wren Alexander Stephens.”

Tiegen also added a special tribute to their son Jack, who she lost at 20 weeks gestation during complications in 2020. “Our hearts, and our home, are officially full. And to our Jack, we know both their angel kisses are from you…”

Teigen explained that when she and Legend began their journey, it was ‘important for her in her early days of selecting a surrogate to find someone who would be open to connecting on a familial level.’

“I wanted to meet her children, and I wanted my children to be friends with her children…” Teigen went on to describe her surrogate Alexandra as “the most incredible, loving, compassionate surrogate we could ever imagine.”

3. Priyanka Chopra Jonas & Nick Jonas grateful for surrogacy.

Jan 21, 2022 The couple announced on Instagram the birth of their first baby, a girl, “We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate.”

Chopra Jonas has spoken about the couple’s “why” for choosing Surrogacy: a medical necessity. “I had medical complications,” She confirmed via PEOPLE. “This was a necessary step, and I’m so grateful I was in a position where I could do this.”

When talking to host Kelly Clarkson, about their Daughter’s first birthday, Jonas said “She went through a pretty wild journey in the early part of her life, so we had to celebrate in style. She’s one. She’s beautiful. It’s amazing — the best.”

4. Rebel Wilson becomes a Mum

In November of 2022, Rebel Wilson, and her fiancée Ramona Agruma, welcomed a baby girl. She announced the arrival of their daughter with a heartfelt thank you to her surrogate in the process with her. “Beyond proud to announce the birth of my first child, Royce Lillian, born this past week via surrogate 💗,”…”I can’t even describe the love I have for her, she’s a beautiful miracle! I am forever grateful to everyone who has been involved, (you know who you are), this has been years in the making…but particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care. Thank you for helping me start my own family, it’s an amazing gift. The BEST gift!!” Wilson posted on her Instagram.

Why did she choose a Surrogate vs. Carrying herself? Wilson told TODAY She had previously gone through the process of freezing her eggs at the age of 40. “I was lucky to get an embryo from the process because of my age and because I have polycystic ovary syndrome,” Wilson said. “With just one embryo, I decided to go with surrogacy. Physically I could have carried the baby, but there was a much higher statistical chance it would work with a surrogate.”
